How do I set-up Slack Notifications?

You can achieve this by following Settings Notifications article.

If instead you'd like to learn more about how Haystack notifications can help prevent Technical Debt before it happens, please see our article dedicated to introducing Haystack Notifications.

Too Many Applications

Slack free tier allows only 10 applications per workspace. There are two ways to move forward;

  1. Upgrade to Slack paid plan and have unlimited application slots

  2. Delete an unused application to free a slot. You can achieve this by going to slack.com/apps and navigating to "Manage" link on the top right corner.

Cannot see the channel

Double Check Channel Exists

Make sure you can see the channel you want to add the Haystack Bot to "Browser Channels" button.

Refresh Page
If you verified the channel existing, you can simply refresh the "Slack Permission Request Page" and the new channel should appear.

Manually add via Channel ID
Sometimes due to Slack API Limitations, we have trouble displaying all your channels. In these cases, you can always add the channel by using the channel ID.

Internal Server Error

After allowing permissions to Haystack Slack Bot, you should be redirected to the Notifications page. Instead of redirecting, if you see Internal Server Error, please reach out to us by emailing [email protected] or messaging us from Intercom chatbot on the bottom right corner of every page.

Sending Notification Failed

After clicking the microphone button on the Notifications page, if you see an error like the below, try inviting Haystack Bot to the channel you gave permissions to.

You can invite the bot to a channel by typing /invite @Haystack.

How do I change the time notifications are being sent?

You can change the time of notifications by going to our Alerts page and editing the respective notification.

Not getting notifications on the private channel?

The main reason for not getting notifications to private channels not having the Haystack bot inside the channel. You can invite the bot to a channel by typing /invite @Haystack.

Others
